Infinite Space Concept Art
von mr_werns am 09. Dec. 2010, unter News
Besides the longer available first promotion-image for 2011 announced browsergame Star Trek Infinite Space, now I found two concept-sketches which I don’t want to keep apart from you. I’m looking foward to what Gameforge and/or the developers have created for not following the track of “shot at everything that moves – mission accomplished”.

Small update on logo
von mr_werns am 05. Dec. 2010, unter Origins Development

While elsewhere candles are being litten up on second advent, I worked this sunday, besides on some detail-attachments to chapter VII, on the logo of Star Trek Origins.
On the one hand I want to make visibile on the first view, that Origins is an Adventure (this is why I’ve added a subline), on the other hand I replaced the Font with one TOS-like. The reason for this is the atmosphere of the fame, because even if the adventure is dealing with Archer and his crew, we experience an evolution to the “next generation” and to the birht of the Federation.

The beginning ot the storyboards
von mr_werns am 03. Dec. 2010, unter Origins Development
Of course, I’m no Theunis und no Sander but as early prework for all the scenes of the game those sketches suit (I hope)
Armed with tons of reference-material, maps and plans from The Enterprise Project, pencil and paper step by step the locations of the games are developed.
The composition of important and special scenes of course I left to the professionals
After the concept-sketches are done, the realisation is done in 3D for the backgrounds and the cutscenes.

The Trap
von mr_werns am 03. Dec. 2010, unter Origins Development
Every step Origins is visually developing that really cheers my heart. It is really amazing what creative minds are able to conjure out of written words
This really nice concept-design is from Sander Ottens, aka Vyrus, and shows a prep for a cutscene. Sander – please much more of those
Well done!

NASA discovers lifeform built with arsenic
von mr_werns am 03. Dec. 2010, unter News
Who remembers Horta from TOS-Episode The Devil in the Dark?
Then as today a compareable lifeform sounds just as Science Fiction because all life, as it was terrestrial or extraterrestrial, where assumed to develop only from carbon, hydrogen, nitrogen, oxygen, phosphorus and sulfur. So it was logical to search for these components while searching for alien-lifeforms out there.
But yesterday there was the sensation while NASA-press-confernce: In Mono Lake, California Scientists discovered the lifeform GFAJ-1 (what a name). A bacteria which substitutes arsenic for phosphorus. This might be unspectecular in the first sight, but is a revolution for the search for alien-lifeforms. Suddenly environments came into considerations, which where excluded for search in the first place – till now. What they will discover in the next weeks, months or years is still written in the stars, but the chance to find something has increased enormous.

Who wants to know more and also whant to read critcal voices – here is more background:
